This is a continuation of Jeanne's post.... "Workers for SCCA Pro Racing" Jeanne's schedule is pretty busy right now so I am picking up the task.

The SCCA National Office is sponsoring a TDI Cup Driving School here in Las Vegas. They are going to be in town the weekend of February 5-6-7. As part of this event there will be a Karting Expo which will be held at the Southpoint Casino.

We (LVR) have been invited to participate in the Karting Expo, specifically we have been requested to help with manning the Karting Expo Booth (booth open 9-5 daily) which will provide publicity for both the National program AND LVR SCCA.

We will have flyers for LVR with information concerning our Region and our Region's Solo etc programs. This is your chance to help out the club and produce a little publicity for our Region.

If you can help man this Karting Expo booth please let me know (respond right here). Let me know the day-s you can help and what hours you could be there.

Thanks, Rick K

Rick

I can't commit right now, but would be interested.  I might be able to help with half or a full day.  I can talk the language of karts in autocross, not much else.

Rick,

Suzanne & I could work a few hours (2) on Saturday and maybe Sunday too.  We are flexible on times.

Thank you guys for the help... I'll be in contact with you to set up time and date.

Anybody else out there who could devote up to 4 hours would certainly be a help.

Thanks,

Thanks to everybody who made this TDI Cup/ Kart Expo happen. The National Office and SCCA Pro Racing were involved in setting up this weekend and with the help of lots of LVR members we are making it happen.

This weekend at the South Point Casino there is a Kart Expo happening on Saturday and Sunday... the Expo is open to all (for a small fee) and you can see the latest in Kart technology on display. During the weekend there will be a kart expo (demo) on the back lot of the South Point.

LVR and the national office will have an information booth open inside the South Point and thanks to Mark & Suzanne Segal, Dale Shoemaker,Will & Ann Lynn, Jamin Loveless & Kira Farmer the booth will be providing information and flyers on LVR activities.

Thanks to Rob Senft our club trailer was delivered to the South Point so that the kart expo could be set up on the back lot.

Then on Tuesday Feb 9th SCCA Pro Racing will be holding a TDI school at SMMR in Pahrump where Dick Greenwold and Randy Harrison will be lending a hand.

Thank you to everybody who helped make this multi faceted event come off successfully !!

Yours,
Rick K.

Sorry Chris but I didn't see your post until now.

Actually, this event was a kind of Reality TV Show. SCCA Pro Racing runs a series called the TDI Cup. Each year they sign up about 400 prospective drivers then through a series of elimination events they eventually choose 20 drivers to participate in the years TDI Cup Races.

The cost is $45K to enter the series, for this price, if you are one of the 20 finalists, you get a fully prepared car and a pit crew to see you through the racing year. This series is considered a stepping stone to become a professional driver.

This past weekend in Las Vegas, SCCA Pro held the final two elimination events. One was an autocross event which was held at the South Point and the final elimination event was a track day at SMMR in Pahrump. LVR was asked to help out with course workers for the SMMR track day. So to answer your question... it was really not a spectator event eventhough any member could have gone out to SMMR and visited for the day.

Our thanks go out to Randy and Dick for offering to work course for the day. Their help was really appreciated by SCCA Pro. and our Region. Keep your eyes and ears open for next year, if they hold the final events here again I'm sure that they will approach us for some help.

By the way this series will air on SPEED this year.
